Five Exclusive nights with a range of adventurous activities

Day One
You will fly north from Stockholm to the town of Luleå just south of the arctic circle. Here your hosts will meet you and fit you out with winter clothing and take you on a private guided tour to the fabulous Arctic Retreat. Tucked away deep in the forest at the foot of the Raven Rapid in the Råne River valley are some amazing timber log cabins. This is a hidden gem in Swedish Lapland that offers a personal and exclusive stay.

Owned by a local family, Arctic Retreat is the inspiration of Liza and Niklas. They moved out from the town of Luleå to the inland forest to fulfil their dream. This eco-lodge has a back to nature feeling with delicious home cuisine, warm hospitality in a beautiful setting. Sheltered by large trees, the traditional and luxuriously decorated log timber cabins offer an escape to another world.

Here there is a focus on a high level of personal service though out our guests stay and regardless of the days adventures a warm dip in your private hot tub and/or a Swedish Sauna and a delicious meal await you in the evening. The food is a set menu for each day based on seasonal availability and dietary requirements are catered for. The experience is genuine in all aspects – from materials used, food served, to the local people taking care of you.

After check-in you we will enjoy an afternoon hike in the surrounding forest and enjoy afternoon tea/coffee cooked over an open fire. On our return you will have time to relax and enjoy the retreat and perhaps a dip in your own private hot-tub/jacuzzi. This evening your hosts will prepare a fabulous three course dinner. If staying in Autumn, late in the evening when the darkness returns , it will be time to go out and search for the northern lights.

Day Two
In the morning you will join a private fishing tour from a boat. The lakes and rivers by the camp are full of Trout, Pike, Greyling and certain times of the year even migrating Salmon. This 3-hour tour will take us through to midday.
Back at Arctic Retreat off on short snow shoe tour along the rivers edge where we will find a great spot to rest and prepare a fantastic outdoor lunch.

Lunch and dinner are again included in your stay. Enjoy the evening sitting, in the jacuzzi on the front deck of your log timber cabin.

Day Three
Todays adventure is Whitewater rafting. We will equip you with wetsuit, wet shoes, dry jacket rafting vest and helmet. Safety and paddle instruction will follow before we enter the river. This rafting tour is in rapids in river class II-III which means a lot of fun and a really wet experience with a lot of adrenaline and action. Depending on group size we use rafts from 4 – 10 person size. During the tour we make a stop for wilderness BBQ around the campfire. Included: Professional guide with security equipment, personal rafting equipment and lunch. Good to bring : swim shorts or bikini, towel. Duration: 5–6 hours with lunch.

Day Four
Today we will go canoeing in Beaver land. Along with with experienced guide you will paddle in a canoe on the river’s scenic and quieter parts and make a visit to the beavers’ habitat. By staying low-key, you can get close to these shy animals. Giving you a new perspective of the river and the forest. Did you know that this hard-working animal can fell trees with a diameter of as much as 50 centimetres in just one night? Along the way we will stop for coffee/tea and a sandwich. There are good chances to see beaver and other wildlife such as birds, moose and maybe reindeer. Duration 5-6 hours including lunch.

Lunch and dinner are again included in your stay. Enjoy the evening sitting, in the jacuzzi on the front deck of your log timber cabin.

Day Five
Today we will visit a Sami Family. After a transfer of about 40 minutes to Flakaberg along the Råne River valley. We will visit the Eriksson Sámi family. Lars Eriksson will introduce you to the reindeers and tell stories about the Sámi life in history and well as today. A typical lunch with a desert will be served in a small cabin. This is a great opportunity to experience the interesting life and history of the forest Sámi culture. Duration 4-5 hours with lunch and transfers.

Day Six

Today you will bid a fond farewell to Arctic Retreat and enjoy a guided transfer to your next destination or the Luleå airport for your journey home.
